UPDATE: NEW LOCATIONS FOR BRIGHTLINE WEST FIELD INVESTIGATION WORK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

LAS VEGAS (June 23, 2025) – Brightline West announces updates to field investigation work in Southern California within the rail corridor that is located along the Interstate 15 right-of-way. No field investigation work is scheduled for the week in Nevada.

 

Field investigation work includes geotechnical borings and samplings, utility potholing and land surveying. Work will take place primarily during daytime hours with some work at night to minimize disruption to traffic. In some instances, short-term closures of freeway shoulders will be required. All work will be done in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and in coordination with Caltrans. 

 

Updated project areas are listed below. Motorists should proceed with extra caution through work zones and adhere to posted detour signs, speed limits and other signage. 

 

California

 

Zzyx Rd and I-15

Geotechnical boring will be performed in the I-15 freeway median for the wildlife crossing bridges. Work will be performed approximately 3.5 miles south of Basin Road (Cady Mountain), and 0.5 miles south of Zzyzx Road (Soda Mountain). The work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 25 and continue through Friday, June 27, 7 am to 4 pm.

 

Basin Rd and I-15

Pavement cores will be performed at night on the southbound shoulders of the I-15 freeway, 3.5 miles south of Basin Road to the Old Hwy 58 interchange, on Thursday, June 26, from 10 pm to 4 am.

 

Mojave Dr and I-15

Pavement cores will be performed on the shoulder of the I-15 freeway, from Mojave Drive to Oak Hill Road, beginning Monday, June 23 through Wednesday, June 25 and again on Friday, June 27, from 7 am to 3 pm.

 

Kelbaker Rd and I-15

Bridge potholing will be performed at the interchanges on the I-15 freeway, between Kelbaker Road south to the SR-210 freeway interchange. The work will be performed on Monday, June 23, through Friday, June 27, between 7 am and 3 pm.

 

Razor Rd and I-15

Infiltration test will be performed in the I-15 center median at, approximately 1.0 mile south of Razor Road, on Tuesday, June 24, from 7 am to 5 pm.

 

Note: Dates and times are subject to change. These operations are weather-dependent.
