UPDATE: NEW LOCATIONS FOR BRIGHTLINE WEST FIELD INVESTIGATION WORK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
LAS VEGAS (June 9, 2025) – Brightline West announces updates to field investigation work in Southern California within the rail corridor that is located along the Interstate 15 right-of-way. No field investigation work is scheduled for the week in Nevada.
Field investigation work includes geotechnical borings and samplings, utility potholing, and land surveying. Work will take place primarily during daytime with some work at night to minimize disruption to traffic. In some instances, short-term closures of freeway shoulders will be required. All work will be done in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and coordination with Caltrans.
Updated project areas are listed below. Motorists should proceed with extra caution through work zones and adhere to posted detour signs, speed limits, and other signage.
California
Near Death Valley Rd:
Potholing will take place near Death Valley Rd. This will occur on Monday June 9, 2025, 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Shoulder closure is needed.
Near Palmdale Rd:
Potholing will take place near Palmdale Rd. This will occur on Tuesday June 10, 2025, 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Shoulder closure is needed.
Near I-15 (off-road):
Potholing will take place off-road near I-15. This will occur on Wednesday June 11, 2025, 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Lane closure is needed.
Near Mariposa Rd:
Potholing will take near Stoddard Wells Rd and Mojave Dr. This will occur on Thursday-Friday June 12-13, 2025, 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Lane closure is needed.
Nipton Rd:
Geotechnical borings will be performed at night on the I-15 freeway center median at Nipton Road. Nightwork will be performed on Sunday, June 8 from 12 midnight to 7 a.m., and again on Monday, June 9, from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m.
Clyde Kane Rest Area:
Geotechnical borings will be performed in the I-15 freeway center median, ½ mile south of the Clyde Kane Rest Area, on Monday, June 9 and Tuesday June 10, between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Wild Wash Bridge
Geotechnical borings will be performed at night near the Wild Wash Bridge. Lane #3 will be closed as well as the southbound Wild wash on-ramp. Nightwork will be performed on Tuesday, May 10, from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Geotechnical borings will be performed at night on the I-15 northbound interior shoulder and lane #1. Nightwork will be performed on Wednesday, June 11 and Thursday June 12, from 9 p.m. until 4a.m.
Ranchero Rd and Bear Valley Rd
Pavement cores will be performed in the I-15 freeway median, between k-rail concrete barriers, from Ranchero Road and Bear Valley Road, on Monday June 9, and Wednesday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pavement cores will be performed on the northbound exterior shoulder on Thursday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Razor Rd and Calico Rd
Infiltration tests will be performed on the I-15 center median between Razor Road and Calico Road, starting Tuesday, June 10 through Friday, June 13, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Devore:
Infiltration tests will be performed on the I-15 in Devore in the northbound and southbound vehicle pull-out areas and center median, and also, in the center median between Razor Road and Calico Road, starting Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 13, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Biological Surveys:
Our environmental compliance team is shifting to the RC-VV segment next week. We are expecting that the surveys next week will be between Rancho Cucamonga and Victorville. Work will be performed on Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 13, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
