UPDATE: NEW LOCATIONS FOR BRIGHTLINE WEST FIELD INVESTIGATION WORK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
LAS VEGAS (Sept. 30, 2024) – Brightline West announces updates to field investigation work in Southern California within the rail corridor located within the Interstate 15 right-of-way. No field investigation work is scheduled for the week in Nevada.
Field investigation work includes geotechnical borings and samplings, utility potholing and land surveying. Work will take place primarily during daytime hours with some work at night to minimize disruption to traffic. In some instances, short-term closures of freeway shoulders will be required. All work will be done in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and coordination with Caltrans.
The updated project areas are listed below. Motorists should proceed with extra caution through work zones and adhere to posted detour signs, speed limits, and other signage.
California
Near Beach Ave (I-15)
Potholing will take place near Beach Ave, near the outside of the northbound I-15 freeway limits but within Caltrans's right of way. It will occur on Monday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Shoulder and lane closure will be required.
Near Quarry RD (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Quarry RD, outside the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits but within Caltrans's right of way. It will occur on Monday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Lane closures will be required.
Near Beach Ave (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Beach Ave, near the outside of the southbound I-15 freeway limits but within Caltrans's right of way. It will occur on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Ramp and lane closure will be required.
Nisqualli RD (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Nisqualli RD, near the I-15 southbound on-ramp and the northbound off-ramp, but within Caltrans's right of way. It will occur on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoulder closures will be required.
Luna RD (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Luna RD, between the I-15 northbound lanes and Mariposa RD, on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Nisqualli RD (I-15):
Manhole dips will take place near Nisqualli RD, outside the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits, and outside the Caltrans right of way. This will occur on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Shoulder closures will be required.
South of the SR-210 (I-15):
Potholing will take place south of the SR-210, outside the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits, and outside the Caltrans right of way on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
South of the Beach Ave (I-15):
Potholing will take place south of Beach Ave, outside the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits but within Caltrans's right of way. This will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Cheery Ave (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Cherry Ave, outside the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits but within Caltrans's right of way. It will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
South of Main Street (I-15):
Potholing will take place south of Main Street, near the I-15 southbound on-ramp and the northbound off-ramp, within Caltrans right of way. This will occur on Wednesday Oct. 2, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Ramp closure will be required.
South of the Bear Valley RD (I-15):
Potholing will take place south of the Bear Valley RD, outside the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits but within Caltrans's right of way. It will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
South of the Bear Valley RD (I-15):
Manhole dips will take place south of the Bear Valley RD, outside the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits, and outside the Caltrans right of way on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Victoria Street (I-15):
Potholing will occur on and near Victoria Street, outside of the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits, inside and outside of the Caltrans right of way, on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
East Etiwanda Creek (I-15):
Potholing will take place near east Etiwanda Creek, near the outside of the southbound I-15 freeway limit, on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Near Oak Hill RD (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Oak Hill RD, outside of the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits, but within Caltrans right of way. This will occur on Thursday, Oct. 3, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Pacific Electric Trail (I-15):
Potholing will take place on Pacific Electric Trail, to the north and south of the I-15 freeway, on Friday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Victoria Street (I-15):
Potholing will occur on Victoria Street, north of the I-15 freeway limit. This will occur on Friday, Oct. 4, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
North of SR-138 (I-15):
Potholing will occur north of SR-138, north of the northbound I-15 freeway limit, but within Caltrans limits. This will happen on Friday, Oct. 4, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Lane closure will be required.
On I-15 from Mountain Pass to Baker:
Plate Load Testing will be performed in the freeway center median, Monday, Sept. 30 through Friday, Oct. 4, 6 a.m. through 4 p.m.
On I-15 from Baker to Palmdale Road:
Geotechnical borings are scheduled on northbound off-ramp at Palmdale and in the shoulder and center medium , Wednesday, Oct. 2 and Thursday Oct. 3, 6 a.m. through 4 p.m.
On I-15 south of Dale Evans Parkway:
Geotechnical borings are scheduled in the freeway shoulders and wash ditch bridge areas from Monday, Sept. 30, through Thursday, Oct. 3, 6 a.m. through 4 p.m.
Construction Advisory: Bridge Inspections Set to Begin
Beginning this week, bridge survey work (lead-based paint and asbestos testing) will be performed on bridges between PRIMM and Soapmine Road. This survey work is anticipated to continue for the next five weeks until all existing bridges have been surveyed. The work will begin on Monday, Sept. 30, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and continue testing the remainder of this week and the following weeks, Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
In Hesperia, geotechnical borings and survey work will begin at the future parking structure area of the Hesperia Station located south of Joshua Street. This work is planned to begin on Monday Sept. 30, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and continue during the week.
